Mietzner's Audio Productions

In the late winter term of my final year at OSU, I was asked to create some sound design for the Spring play, 1984. The director had a list of scenes and scene changes that needed sound reinforcement; she gave me her ideas of the sound and let me choose the samples. This project also included voice recordings for certain parts of the play, some of these are heard in the first example. I was told this scene change was supposed to be a dreamy sequence with reminders of the old war. The second example was supposed to be an unpleasant noise used during a torture scene.

This project I worked with the Corvallis-native band, Run the Risk. We worked together to record all the instruments and then I mixed together this song as a demo for their fans and anyone who might stumble across it.
Mike Gamble and Ryan Biesack are both instructors at OSU and fantastic musicians. This is the full take of the song that plays upon arival at this website. I helped set up microphones and gain levels to capture the improvisation jam. I then

In 1969, when my music theory professor and her husband were just beginning their tenures at OSU, they created a wonderful weekly program called Music a la Carte. Each week a new musical performance happens on campus in the student union building. Over the past few years there has been a push to record as many events as possible and here are some of the many

This is a fellow Oregon State student and friend, Baylor Turnbow. He is a couple years behind me, but his junior year recital featured this interesting modern classical saxophone piece. I asked him to perform it for an intimate audience of me and my microphones. With a

This is another example of a recital recording I did while at OSU. This project was a great example of working while under constraints; the person letting us into the venue was late meaning I had less than 45 minutes to set up three microphones and get the computer set up. I'm not as happy with how these came out. There are certain things I would do differently given more time to set up and a do over.

recordings I got from this opportunity. Jon Sharp played beautifully in this performance.

I also enjoy producing my own music on the side. Here are three songs from a short ep I produced this past year. The picture here is of my buddy Gabe Abas playing drums for one of the songs.
